Grassroots Coordinator Initiative

Grass Roots Coordinator Initiative

Advocacy is the top priority for Illinois Credit Union League and CUNA, but we can’t do it alone. We need your help to ensure our voice, and the voices of all credit union members, are heard in Springfield and Washington, D.C. on critical credit union issues. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our advocacy programs, the ICUL introduced the “Grassroots Coordinator” initiative to increase political participation by all credit unions in the state.

Dear Credit Union CEO,

Advocacy is the top priority for Illinois Credit Union League and CUNA, but we can’t do it alone. We need your help to ensure our voice, and the voices of all members, are heard in Springfield and Washington, D.C. on critical credit union issues. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our advocacy programs, the ICUL introduced the “Grassroots Coordinator” initiative a few years ago to increase political participation by all credit unions in the state.

I hope you recognize the value of this type of advocacy and are willing to reaffirm your commitment to this program or, if you don’t already have one, designate a Grassroots Coordinator. The employee or volunteer serving as your credit union’s Grassroots Coordinator will be the primary point of contact for ICUL and CUNA advocacy efforts and activate your members when the time comes for grassroots action…and with a new administration in Washington that has been an outspoken opponent of regulatory burden and a pro-credit union majority in Congress, we hope that time will be soon.

With the support of the entire credit union industry, we have a great opportunity for meaningful change this year to shake credit unions free from cumbersome regulations. To move towards that goal, CUNA has launched the Campaign for Common-Sense Regulation, with steps we can take to get our voices heard by the people in Washington who are in the position to reduce regulatory burden. To be successful during this critical legislative year, the entire credit union community needs to focus on increased advocacy efforts.

Appointing a Grassroots Coordinator(s) at your credit union is an important first step in the Campaign for Common-Sense Regulation. Please complete and return the Grassroots Coordinator form Keith Sias.

Thank you for your consideration of this request. Please contact Keith Sias ([email protected]) with any questions.

Sincerely,

Tom Kane, President/CEO
Illinois Credit Union League
