Project Zip Code has been a very useful tool over the years for both CUNA and State Leagues (including the Illinois CU League). We have used the information to keep Legislators informed on the voting strength of credit unions throughout the Nation.
Keeping the Legislators informed of the number of members in their district has been vital for passing favorable credit union legislation. HB 1792, which amends the Illinois Credit Union Act, & SB 1694, which amends the Illinois Vehicle Code, Labor and Storage Lien Act, are 2 examples of items that the League’s Governmental Affairs Department were able to get passed thru the State Legislature to benefit credit unions.
However, this information could be beneficial to your credit union also. Once your member data is loaded onto a secure server, the Project Zip Code software provides you with tools to search and download very useful information. Did you know that over 2900 credit unions throughout the county have members in Illinois?
Did you know that you can look at a breakdown of credit unions in every District and County in Illinois? How useful would this information be to your credit union when looking at Shared Branching, additional ATMs, or your Marketing Department wants to run a promotion? When you are talking to local legislators, you will be able to give them accurate numbers of not only your members, but all credit unions in their district.
Project Zip Code is very easy to add your members to the database. Step by step directions are available and your Regional Director is available for assistance. Once you upload your data onto a secure server, only the number of credit union members per district and county will be in the national database. At that point, you will have access to that important information.
