Individual Scholarship Eligibility Requirements & Application Form

IMPORTANT INFORMATION – CU CEO must approve all ICU Foundation scholarship applications or the requests will not be considered.  Electronic applications will be forwarded for CEO approval.

Only applications submitted using the online forms will be accepted.

  • Applicant must be a director of, serving on a committee of, or employed by an Illinois Credit Union League affiliated credit union.
  • Recipient’s credit union will be reimbursed after course is successfully completed (with a grade “C” or better, if grades are given). Proof of successful course completion, or attendance at the event, or participation in the activity for which the scholarship was awarded, is required before reimbursement can be issued.
  • At the time the scholarship is used, recipients must be a director of, serving on a committee of or employed by the same credit union listed on the application or the award will automatically be forfeited.
  • Recipients of scholarships to attend multi-year America’s Credit Unions Schools/Programs will have their scholarships renewed provided they are a director of, serving on a committee of, or employed by the same credit union listed on the application and continue attending the school for up to three consecutive years. Recipients who change credit unions or discontinue attendance in the multi-year program must reapply for scholarship assistance.
  • Special eligibility requirements may be separately set for certain discretionary fund scholarships.
  • The maximum amount of scholarship funds allowed per credit union, per year is $5,000.
  • The ranges of scholarship awards by category are: All CUNA Schools/Conferences — up to $5,000; all other sessions, up to $3,000.
  • Application deadlines may be established for certain conferences or events.
  • Applications will be considered as long as scholarship funds are available.
  • Recipients must use scholarship awards during the year they are awarded. Exceptions can be made at the discretion of the ICU Foundation Executive Director on a case-by-case basis.
  • Scholarship funds may be used for the following educational sessions: CUNA School or Conference, Illinois CU League Session, Certification Program, College Program; Self-Study Program, Vendor-Sponsored Session, CU-Affiliated Organization Session, Other. Education sessions which do not fall into any of the specified categories and are legitimate programs comprise the other category.
