2026 GAC Crasher

Introducing our Illinois 2026 Crasher Sabrina Sibert (SOCU)

  1. Tell us about yourself?

I started working at SOCU during a season when I was simply looking for a job. What I didn’t realize then was that I was stepping into an actual career. I began as a teller, which turned out to be the perfect place to learn, grow, and understand what makes a credit union so special.

Once I started opening accounts and building real relationships with our members, something clicked. I wanted to go deeper. I learned loans, started truly feeling the impact of helping people change their financial story, and still found myself wanting to do even more.

Today, I’m a Training Specialist, and I get to live out my passion for people helping people every single day. I support our employees, and I also get the incredible opportunity to go out into the community and help low‑income families learn how to take control of their finances.

I’ve been a mentor for the Coming Together To Get Ahead program with St. Vincent de Paul, and I partner closely with Temporary Assistance for Needy Families to guide individuals toward financial freedom. As a single mom of four amazing little girls, I know how hard it is to catch up, and now I get to show others my “why” and my “how.” My favorite part is watching fear and judgment melt away as people build trust in a financial institution that truly wants to help them succeed.

  1. What are you most excited about when it comes to crashing GAC 2026?

When it comes to crashing the GAC, I am absolutely fired up to learn! I can’t wait to soak in everything from powerful speakers to passionate leaders from across the country. I’m excited to bring back new ideas and dig deeper into the legislation that shapes the future of our movement.

  1. What made you want to apply to Crash GAC?

I applied because after crashing the Annual Convention, I knew I wasn’t done. GAC stood out as the next step. The one that would challenge me, inspire me, and allow me to grow as an advocate. I want to be a voice for people like me and for the communities I serve every day.

People helping people isn’t just a saying to me, it’s my story. And I’m ready to learn, grow, and make an even bigger impact.
