Check out what last year's crashers have to say about crashing the 2025 State Legislative Summit!
Crashing SLS was an unforgettable experience! The amazing ICUL Advocacy Team empowered us with updates and talking points that unified our message and helped make our conversations with lawmakers productive. Knowing more about the ‘why’ is vital to professional and personal growth. Being active in Springfield and chatting with legislators opened my eyes to the importance and impact of State level politics, policies, and regulations that shapes our industry and how we serve our members.
READY, SET, GO! I will be honest, when I first heard about the SLS crasher program, I thought it sounded like one more box to check in developing networking skills, not because I had any vested interest. I found myself standing in the state capitol and started to take in the gravity of what it is advocacy does for our movement. Hearing the inner workings of the interchange law and the story of how it came to be highlighted the important work that the ICUL does for the credit union movement and why it matters to get the movement involved. It was an action-packed event that allowed me to grow professionally and more importantly meet my peers within the movement. To be able to work on developing and deepening my bench of contacts cannot be understated in what will hopefully be a long and fruitful career. This event is one of those events that becomes a moment where you stop being someone who works in a credit union but one who is actively involved in taking this movement into the future.
Crashing the ICUL’s State Legislative Summit last year was an incredible and eye-opening experience! I was genuinely surprised and excited to see the extensive advocacy efforts that go into securing favorable policies for credit unions. This event sparked a passion in me, motivating me to proudly serve as the legislative representative for our local ICUL chapter board this upcoming year. Crashing SLS is an inspiring opportunity that I highly recommend to everyone!
