Illinois Credit Unions Earn Nearly 10% of National NCUA CDRLF Grants
June 30, 2026 -

The Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) is excited to congratulate nine Illinois credit unions who received a combined $331,500 in Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRLF) grants from the National Credit Union Administration. Their strong representation among award recipients underscores the essential role Illinois credit unions play in expanding financial opportunity for low-income communities across our state.

Illinois credit unions received nearly 10% of the total $3.47 million in CDRLF grants awarded nationally, placing our state second among 97 recipients. Only New York had more credit unions and total dollars awarded.

This recognition is a powerful reflection of the mission-driven work Illinois credit unions do every day. These grants will help our state’s credit unions expand and create new pathways to financial well-being in communities that need it most.

We are especially proud that the Illinois recipients represent a wide range of community-focused priorities, from underserved outreach and training to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, student internships and new charter building. Together, their awards demonstrate how credit unions are investing in both immediate community needs and developing the long-term capacity to serve members effectively in the future.

We congratulate each of the nine Illinois credit unions selected for this competitive national funding and celebrate their continued commitment to expanding financial well-being across the state. Their success is a reminder that Illinois credit unions are not only responding to member needs but are helping lead the way to building stronger local communities.
